10:00 am Kids go to Kyoto with Kids Club
On the second day of Kyoto, let’s go around Kyoto-like places. If you are worried about your child getting bored, go to Kyoto with Kids Club first. Kids can enjoy Japanese cultural activities with professional staff fluent in English. A variety of activities are available so that kids won’t get bored in their time there. The kids club is generally until 2 pm but can be extended to 5 pm.

10:30 am Take the Subway to Daitokuji Temple
After leaving your kids at the Gojo Dori Kids Club, take the Subway Karasuma Line from Gojo Station to Kitaoji Station. You can take a city bus or walk to Daitokuji in about 15 minutes. It is famous among foreigners and is the largest Zen temple in Japan, but it is not so popular with Japanese people, so you can visit it without such large crowds.
12:00 pm Savor the Vegetarian Cuisine on the Temple Grounds
There is the “Izusen Daijiin Store” where you can enjoy vegetarian cuisine at Daijiin Temple. Since there are only adults, let’s have lunch here. You can enjoy a variety of dishes that are so colorful and beautiful that you can’t imagine they were made with no animal ingredients.
2:00 pm Kinkakuji Temple – A Must See Spot
After enjoying delicious vegetarian dishes, take the city bus line 12 from the bus stop of “Kenkun Jinja Mae”. You will arrive at the bus stop of “Kinkakuji Mae” in about 10 minutes. Yes, you can’t come to Kyoto without seeing Kinkakuji Temple! It’s always crowded with tourists, but you don’t want to miss it.

3:30 pm Enjoy the Garden of Ryoanji Temple
If you’ve seen the Golden Pavilion, be sure to visit the rock garden of Ryoanji Temple. It is about 5 minutes by city bus 59 from “Kinkakuji Mae” or about a 20-minute walk. This rock garden in the style called Karesansui is said to be the most famous Zen garden in Japan. Of course, it’s sure to be crowded, so it’s hard to visit with kids. But it’s a waste to come to Kyoto and not visit here!
5:00 pm Pick Up Kids at Kyoto with Kids Club
From Ryoanji, take a taxi back to the city. You should be able to arrive at the kids’ club in about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
Please ask your kids about their day at Kyoto with Kids Club!
6:00 pm Sushi Dinner
On the second day, how about Japanese conveyor belt sushi? Are your kids not fans of raw fish? Don’t worry. In Japanese sushi restaurants, there are sushi with something kids like, such as hamburger patties, on top. I would also recommend boiled shrimp and avocado sushi.
