Do you know Toei Kyoto Studio Park? According to the official website, Toei Kyoto Studio Park is the only theme park in Japan where you can observe the filming of period dramas (jidaigeki films). You must be thinking, “Period dramas? Isn’t that boring for kids?” No, that’s not the case at al. In fact, it is a theme park that can be enjoyed by both children and adults. I go to Toei Kyoto Studio Park once or twice a year with my kids who are now 4 and 8. Let me tell you why Toei Kyoto Studio Park is a great place for foreign tourists with children.
Toei Kyoto Studio Park is like going back to the Edo Period and there are many great picture spots
Toei Kyoto Studio Park is a Japanese studio set from the Edo period (1603 to 1867). Just walking around it makes me feel like I am in an old Japanese town. Of course, the photo opportunities are also perfect, and you can take lots of photos that will help you remember your trip for years to come! From renting ninja costumes for children to dressing in kimono or like a samurai for adults, it is fun for the whole family to wear many costumes and walk around old-fashioned Japan.
Toei Kyoto Studio Park has many games which adults and kids both enjoy
Toei Kyoto Studio Park is not just a park for your eyes, there are lots of games for both kids and adults! As you walk in the old-style Japan, you can enjoy traditional Japanese performances, play games with bows and arrows, and even enjoy a samurai sword-fighting lesson. There are also mazes that can be enjoyed in a ninja atmosphere and attractions where you climb up high walls.
You can dine with your family at Toei Kyoto Studio Park
Toei Kyoto Studio Park has a number of restaurants and cafes where you can dine with your family, so there is no need to leave Toei Kyoto Studio Park for meals.
There is a restaurant where you can enjoy Japanese food casually while feeling the atmosphere of old Japan in an old-fashioned building. In summer they also serve Japanese style shaved ice.
Play with Japanese kids at Toei Kyoto Studio Park!
Toei Kyoto Studio Park has an exhibition of Japanese heroes and on weekends, real heroes come for hero shows and handshaking events and it’s sometimes crowded with local families. There are not usually many foreign tourists, so you may be able to interact with Japanese families while feeling the unique feeling only a tourist can feel. Japanese children also love samurai and ninja.
